The journey to empower Sindiru Village began with a critical mission—to provide safe access to water through the installation of boreholes. In South Sudan, the scarcity of water sources, especially for remote communities like Sindiru, poses significant challenges.

Our endeavour to address this issue was driven by a commitment to safety and education. Children, especially young girls, often undertook perilous journeys of 3-4 kilometers to collect water. These journeys not only posed physical risks but also hindered school attendance, as children would miss classes while fetching water.

By placing boreholes near the school and village, we could eliminate these dangers and facilitate school attendance, particularly for girls. Additionally, these boreholes would ensure a constant and convenient water supply, making daily life more manageable for the community.

In 2014-2015, we took this critical step by investing $30,000 AUD to install two boreholes, strategically located near the school and village. This was more than just drilling holes; it was a promise of safety and convenience for the people of Sindiru. No longer would women and children need to embark on long, perilous journeys to fetch water. The boreholes alleviated the risks they faced, contributing to a safer environment for all.

The investment in boreholes was not just about immediate impact, it was an investment in the future of Sindiru. The boreholes laid the foundation for positive change, exemplifying our dedication to enhancing the lives of its residents.
